AMELIA SMITH 1750

Very finely stitched English sampler, silk on fine tammy cloth, with a four sided geometric/lozenge border enclosing arcaded floral bands, two verses, urns of flowers, squirrels and alphabets. It is executed in cross, counted satin, petit point and eyelet stitches.

The color is very good, with just a few small holes to the ground. The sampler has been mounted over fine linen and is framed in a later ebonized frame.

Well Grown in Grace Well Learnt And
Well Taught by faith and good works is
salvation wrought

The sampler itself measures 11-3/4″ x 10″, with the attractive period style frame it is 15-1/2″ x 13-3/4″
