Description
This family register was originally worked by Betsey Adams of Jaffrey, Massachusetts, in 1818, when she was 24 years old. Daughter of Captain Samuel Adams of Boxford, MA, and Lucy Sofford of Rowley, MA, she recorded the births of her nine sisters and brothers, and the death of the eldest, Eliphalet, at age 40 in 1815. This reproduction makes use of many different stitches as did the original, in the collection of the Quincy (MA) Historical Society. These stitches include cross, stem, satin, double satin, bullion, back, lazy daisy, eyelet and herringbone. On 35 count linen the sampler will most closely approximate the size of the original- 17″ x 18-1/4″, Instructions are included for adapting the sampler to your own family tree.
