19th Century American
As the population moved west, the art of samplermaking did as well, manifesting itself in new regional styles, as much influenced by the scarcity of sewing materials and leisure time, as by the individual genius of the girls and women who created the samplers. Our collection of nineteenth century American samplers spans the country from Massachusetts to Virginia to Ohio.
