Description

This English sampler features imposing, symmetrical red brick mansion houses flanking Adam and Eve and the Tree of Life in the upper register. In the middle register “Solomon’s Temple”-like structures flank potted flowers and a large stylized tulip popping from a cornucopia of blossoms. The lower register depicts a pastoral scene with a shepherd, shepherdess and their sheep. Esther finished her sampler when she was fourteen years old. The original sampler was stitched with fine wool yarn on approximately 25 count linen. Instructions are provided for stitching the sampler with DMC cotton, AVAS silk, or Appleton crewel wools. On 25 count linen the finished sampler will most closely approximate the size of the original at 19-1/2″ x 17″. Only cross stitch is required to complete the sampler so it is suitable for any skill level. The chart and instructions have been printed in full color.
