An English sampler with a four-sided strawberry border surrounding two verses and some interesting motifs, including two caged birds, a small church, stags, evergreen trees, flowering plants, lions, dogs, and hearts, executed in silk on linen.

The stitches used are cross and encroaching gobelin.

The sampler has been remounted over linen in a modern frame and is in very good condition. There are small holes. not easily visible in the photos because of the linen backing, and some foxing. The color is very good.

The sampler itself measures 12-1/2″ x 14″, with the frame it is 15″ x 17″.
