Description
The use of letter forms to create pleasing artistic shapes has been a device used for hundreds if not thousands of years.
In this sampler, the letter forms resemble the Germanic “Kurrent” script, which is an old form of German
language handwriting based on late medieval cursive. It is also referred to as German “Gothic” writing or German paleography, so some of the letter forms stitched on this sampler may be unfamiliar to many of us.
This charming little sampler requires the use of cross, petit point, four sided and eyelet stitches.
On 32 count linen the reproduction will most closely approximate the size of the original sampler: 13 1⁄2” x 10”, and the project is recommended for any level of skill.
