This is a beautiful example of a mid 18th century sampler from Saxony featuring unusual and illuminated alphabets, pattern bands and spot motifs including crowns and flowers. It has been executed in cross and double running stitches on a linen ground. Both the color and the condition are very good to excellent. The sampler measures 10-1/2″ x 19-1/4″.
