Description

This wonderful English tent-stitched picture shows an amorous man hovering over and around a shepherdess, dipping her toes into a pool of water. Beautifully detailed oak trees in a lush landscape with sheep and flowers surround them. In the background is a mansion house, the original with mica windows (small mirrors are supplied in the kit) and oversized birds flying under tempestuous clouds. The background is filled in with Parisian stitch, using white floss; the pool of water and the sheep are worked with fuzzy chenille that is supplied with both the cotton and the silk kits. The postures of the couple hint at flirtatious or amorous discourse.

Original antique sampler is shown in the picture.
