Description
This reproduction of an English sampler, dated 1819, features an unusual carnation border surrounding bowls of fruit, and Adam and Eve beneath the Tree of Life, flanked by this Biblical verse:
And the Lord God commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat But of the tree of the knowledge of Good and evil thou shalt not eat of it for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die
Worked entirely in cross stitch over two threads of 30 count linen, it will measure almost exactly the size of the original, in the collection of The Scarlet Letter.
The frame on this sampler was custom painted by Catherine Campbell of Primitive Traditions: “Fancifully, Grain Painted Custom Framing.” You can reach her at cathycampbell@superpa.net
