MARY McCULLOCH 1763

This beautiful finely stitched (silk on linen) Scottish sampler displays many traditional characteristics seen on other Scottish needle works. It has a four sided floral border centering a wide arcaded pansy band. and scrolling floral leaves and vines surrounding a cartouche with a three line pious verse.

While there are numerous small holes scattered over the sampler (visible in the photos, and the majority around the edges) the color and overall condition of the stitching remain very good. Stitches used are cross, petit point, queen and double running. The later frame is in fair condition. 12″ x 13″
