An English sampler stitched on fine linen with remarkably colored silk threads.

The design includes an elaborate floral basket as well as large sunflowers, and swans executed in counted satin stitches.  Stitches used are counted satin and cross.

The condition is very good with some color run in areas with intense green.  The sampler has been conservation mounted over linen in a later frame.  There are minor thread losses, mostly on the outermost edges where it had been nailed to its original wooden mount.  13″x16-1/2″, wall displacement with frame is 16″ x 20-1/2″.
