GEORGIAN NEEDLEWORK PICTURE OF THREE BOYS AT PLAY, circa 1760
In its original octagonal molded, veneered frame, this petit point picture depicts three young boys playing “Blind Man’s Bluff” on a lawn surrounded by flowering trees. One boy is blindfolded, the discombobulated boy in the middle is bent over trying to regain his balance while avoiding capture by the “blind” boy, the third appears to be picking a large reddish flower.
The colors are somewhat faded, and there is one hole in the lower right corner visible in the photos. The piece has been glued to a large piece of linen which was very likely done when it was originally mounted. The frame is in wonderful condition. The octagonal needlework itself measures 9-1/2″ x 10-1/2″, with the frame it is 12-1/4″ x 13″
