Description

This is a very graceful and finely stitched sampler, an unusual combination for the late date. Nine ethereal female figures, like penitents in an Edward Gorey cartoon, march solemnly about the sampler, paying homage to the house. The huge house appears to be welcoming them in with its open windows sporting pots of blooming flowers. An unusually lovely aura of shimmering counted satin stitch surrounds the house like an aurora borealis. The design is quite unique and very feminine. The original sampler, probably of English origin, was worked on a thread count of approximately 52 and measures 13-1/4″x12. We offer the kit on a choice of thread counts.
