Patterns date from the late sixteenth to the mid nineteenth centuries, and include chapters on birds, insects, fish, sheep, cows, deer, horses, goats, dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels, lions, mythological beasts (gryphons, unicorns), even a crocodile, a shark, and some elephants.
