LM:AM dated 1829
This sampler is either English or Continental, and is stitched with brilliantly colored silk on extremely fine linen and bordered with rose colored silk ribbon. Two alphabets and a line of numerals are worked above a wide band of naturalistic roses, below which is a pagoda flanked by initials and palm trees. At the bottom are two solidly stitched blocks, one executed in cross stitch, the other in flamestitch. They are on either side of an urn overflowing with flowers. The color is excellent, with a few small holes scattered to the linen and silk ribbon border. The sampler itself measures 9″x15″, 12-1/2″ x 18-1/2″ in the frame. Professionally framed and mounted behind UV filtering museum glass.
