ADAM AND EVE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN
A large mid 19th century English sampler stitched with brightly colored Berlin wool on a canvas ground, featuring Adam and Eve under the Tree of Life with dark blue cherubs flying overhead.  This quirky sampler,  stitched by an older girl, is in what I believe is its original maple frame.  A stealthy fox and a fat rabbit sit alongside an almost surreal scene of a girl standing beside a house with a large spilling pink roof (thatch?) with her dog at her side. Two nearly matching houses- the doors are different colors- are stitched on either side of Adam and Eve.
The sampler itself measures 26″ x 25″, with the frame it occupies the space of 31″ x 30″.  Very good color and condition, with some foxing around some colors.
Additional shipping costs are required because of the size of the sampler.  If you can pick it up the only extra charge will be Wisconsin sales tax
