Sarah Carefield 1813
English memorial sampler featuring a brick house and verses. The lawn in front of the house is flanked by strange looking hedgehog-like creatures. The verses are:
May God from whom
all mercies spring
Bless the true church
and save the King
**
Religion does not censure
or exclude
Unnumber’d pleasures
harmlessly pursued

My dear and honoured Father John Carefield Died on Monday the 18 of May 1812 in the 54 year of his age.
Beneath the house she has stitched owls, stags, squirrels, dogs, birds, trees and flowers. There are small holes throughout the sampler. The color is very good. Unframed, 12″ x 13″
