| Scottish samplers are often easy to identify by similar and distinctive characteristics of design, several of which are evident on this fine and rare example. They include the illuminated lettering in the upper half, the predominant red and green color scheme, use of Hungarian Point bargello stitch, and many groups of initials (probably of the maker's family). | |
