LUCY MARIA WIGGIN 1822
Lucy Marie Wiggin was born in 1815 to a prominent Portsmouth, New Hampshire, farmer and his wife. She later because a school teacher in that town, before marrying and starting her own family in Exeter. Her sampler, made when she was just seven years old, was worked on hand-dyed green linsey-woolsey, as were a number of samplers made in the Portsmouth area.
