MARY SCHULL 1819

Mary Schull 1819
Lehigh Valley, Easton, Pennsylvania

This Pennsylvania sampler has characteristics of other Lehigh Valley samplers (see Betty Ring's Girlhood Embroidery, pp. 450-455, including the note for Fig. 509), particularly in the evergreen trees flanking the house, with their distinct horizontal "foliage", and the brown trunks extending up into the greenery. Originally stitched on homespun linen, the 30 count evenweave linen supplied with our reproduction is the same color as the original. Stitches used are cross, eyelet, and straight.
