RICHARD PENN
circa 1695
Four arcaded pattern bands above the inscription and alphabets A through M in block letter style. This short band sampler could be American, possibly worked by Margaret, youngest and favorite daughter of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania. After the name "Richard Penn" is the beginning of another name "MAR" which could be Margaret Penn, sister to Richard Penn, both of them children of William Penn. Richard and Margaret, favorites of their father, were his two youngest children
