PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN SHOW TOWEL

Towel Towel Towel Towel

A piece introduced by TSL in 1991, this consists of one hand woven flax linen towel with natural fringes (made by Kate Smith from the Marshfield School of Weaving in Vermont) measuring approximately 13"x40", and instructions for stitching the towel. My finished towel hangs in the studio here. The thread count is around 35. A slight variation in the weave toward the bottom creates an interesting pattern, and is shown interspersed with a verse in German translated as: Whoever is skilled is considered worthy No one appreciates the unskilled.
